Bluefaced Leicester is a longwool breed that creates high-quality semi-luster yarns with soft hand, beautiful drape, and excellent dye properties. While Merino is slightly finer, BFL is a 'lustre' breed so the fleece has a beautiful sheen. BFL is very soft and comfortable to wear against the skin.
